Given the hurricanes
that hit the southern U.S. in 2005, it's a good time to
revisit Mire's tale of a rural Cajun community in South
Louisiana (Mire himself is from Eunice, LA). When Raymond (Krasnoff)
returns to his hometown on the occasion of his father's
death, he forsakes his life as a successful architect for
his roots on a rice farm. Intermingled are music, Mardi Gras,
and ethnic flavor far surpassing the spicy bowls of
jambalaya.
