No study of paranoia films is complete without this comedic
vision of the world being overrun by huge and angry tomatoes.
Although loaded with sci-fi silliness and overall mediocrity,
something about the image of sourpuss sour fruit touched a
nerve, inspiring a range of offshoots from a TV series to
sequels galore, including Killer
Tomatoes Eat France! (1991).
