Going down easy is this
family movie about an English schoolboy who creates a secret
society of chefs (self-proclaimed "Scoffers" derived from
Escoffier) out of socially awkward students like himself.
Even though the kids are young, director Hardy sees to it
that they look like pros and shows the preparation of their
midnight meals with the kind of care generally found in far
more sophisticated films. Food gags against grown-ups are
plentiful but smartly restrained.
